I think it's too late for him to win back most of his supporters. He only has the die-hards at this point which would back him on the passing of the "Jump Up and Down for No Reason" Act. ;)

A miniscule consolation after the epic wreckage he has wrought.

Actually, my comment was of a different sort. Nym only wants positive change whether it be republican or democrat. Voted both sides of the aisle in the past and would love to do so in the future.

However, my comment was related more to the fact that Democrats have been talking about spending and how the supposed fiscals ones where spending like drunken sailors. With this spending, it's not a week on shore anymore it is a week in Amsterdam...drunken and stoned.

I for one am now hoping for inaction and gridlock.

I have to agree with Nym on the sad state of things. Its unfortunate, but it now seems that inaction and gridlock is the only effective way to control excessive federal spending anymore.

If it ain't one party's $320 million bridge to nowhere then its the other party completely renegging on their promises to make the earmarks process transparent - a promise made out of simple political expediency in the heat of a campaign. I have a sneaking suspicion that when the Dems are finished they will make Delay's K Street Project look like Sesame Street. Looks like we're about to see another $19B to $23B in pork coming out of this congress of broken promises.

Once in power there is little initiative for members of congress to reign in spending as it is the handout of approprations to their supporters that puts and keeps them in power. A pox on both parties.

we need to extend the expiring tax cuts and that does not happen when one gets fancy and votes both sides of the aisle

It all comes down to the age old problem. No government program ever ends.

After all, the primary charter of the Bureau of Indian Affairs
(http://www.doi.gov/bureau-indian-affairs.html) is to manage Indian treaties.

Modern democracies are about creating enough special interest groups so as to ensure re-election.
